Princess Haya of Jordan, the wife of Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, gave birth to a baby girl on Sunday – coinciding with the 36th National Day of the United Arab Emirates.

"Princess Haya brought a baby girl into the world on Sunday on the dawn of the day when the UAE celebrates the 36th anniversary of the creation of the federation," the official news agency WAM reported.

It did not give the baby's name.

Sheikh Mohammad, who is also vice president and prime minister of the UAE, married Princess Haya, daughter of Jordan's late King Hussein and a half-sister of King Abdullah II, in 2004.
