Test is not Saudi custom, father of the bride says
Saudi groom cancels wedding over medical test

DUBAI (AlArabiya.net)

A Saudi groom had to call off the wedding after his father-in-law refused to allow his daughter to undergo pre-marital medical tests, claiming it goes against Saudi customs and traditions.

The marriage official, Sami Al-Dosari, declined to continue with marriage procedures due to the father's refusal to provide the medical certificate, Saudi Arabic-language daily, Okaz, reported Tuesday.

According to a decree issued by the council of ministers, marriage officials cannot marry couples who do not take HIV and Hepatitis tests.

The Saudi government has established clinics at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Jeddah's King Abdul Aziz International Airport, as part of its fight against HIV/AIDS.
