Police were questioning a 19-year-old Jordanian girl suspected of poisoning and killing her parents and two brothers in the northern city of Irbid this week, the Jordan Times reported on Wednesday.
"The girl confessed to mixing pesticides with juice and offering it to her family on Monday," a police source told the newspaper, adding that "family problems" were probably behind the crime.
The poison killed the girl's father, mother and two brothers aged 21 and 17, the paper said, adding that a 14-year-old sister was the sole survivor.
The suspect is expected to be charged with four counts of premeditated murder.
According to the Jordan Times, a 19-year-old boy was executed in 1999 for murdering 12 people, including his father, mother, siblings, relatives and a friend, because his family "threatened to kick him out" if he failed his exams. |
