A restaurant in Syria, which seats up to 6, 012 people, was set to become the world's biggest restaurant after it was officially listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, press reports said.

The restaurant called 'Bawabat Dimashk', loosely translated as 'Damascus Gate', does not serve alcohol but offers a wide variety of cuisines such as: Indian, Chinese, Gulf Arab, Iranian and Middle Eastern, Business Intelligence Middle East reports.

Guinness representatives have completed all the tests and checked all the details and services we offer, Business Intelligence Middle East quoted the restaurant's manager and owner as saying.

'Bawabat Dimashk' beat Bangkok's Mang Gorn Lunag as the world's biggest restaurant, which seats 5, 000 people, the paper said.
