Dead mother gives birth to baby in Mexico
Mother dies in car crash, baby born minutes later
A woman eight months pregnant was mortally wounded Wednesday in a car crash but her baby survived the trauma and was born several minutes later in hospital, Mexican authorities said.
The young woman died in an ambulance en route to a hospital in Tizayuca, north of Mexico City.
Doctors observed "some intense movements in her belly" and rushed her to the maternity ward where doctors performed a Caesarian section, hospital spokesman Jose Hernandez said.
The pregnant woman was found in the wreckage of a car that had been traveling at high speed when it lost control on the highway between Mexico City and Pachuca and slammed into a car going in the opposite direction.
Six people were killed in the accident and two others were seriously injured, according to Mexican police.
