American queen of controversy Madonna is reportedly trying to convert her Catholic-born Brazilian boyfriend, Jesus Luz, to the mystical practice of Kabbalah, media reports said on Saturday.

The 50-year-old singer is said to have persuaded the 22-year-old model, who was raised in a strict Catholic household, to rethink his faith, and Jesus is now considering turning to the mystical faith based on Judaism.

Jesus has taken a real interest in Kabbalah and has started making a few online enquiries into the faith. He joined an online Kabbalah group and is keen to become an active member, the U.K.'s Daily Mirror reported.

The young man's parents are said to be concerned about the "bewitching" power Madonna appears to have over their son.

"Jesus' family are very traditional and quite religious so this news is sure to come as something of a shock. But Jesus is totally taken with Madonna and is slightly in awe of her. Quite simply he can't get enough, and finds her utterly compelling and bewitching," the paper quoted a source as saying.

But Jesus insists: "It is not important what others think about us. The most important thing is to have a clear conscience, even if I am condemned. We cannot forget that Jesus was condemned,” the model wrote on his online profile.

Recently divorced Madonna, who once told her idol Israeli President Shimon Peres that she considered herself an "ambassador of Judaism," came under fire for what her estranged husband Guy Ritchie called her "obsession" with Kabbalah.

Ritchie, who admitted he didn’t understand the religion based on Jewish black magic, said Kabbalah ruled every aspect of his former wife's life and said she was obsessed with the "weird religion."
