A huge granite block, part of a stone pillar from a temple in a sunken Cleopatra-era city off Alexandria, was lifted by crane from the Mediterranean off the Egyptian port on Thursday.

The nine-tone stone block was part of a temple to Isis, ancient Egypt's goddess of fertility, near the underwater ruins of a palace reputed to have belonged to the famed queen, who ruled in the first century BC.
