Navy seizes "weapons boat" off Israeli coast: army

The Israel navy seized a boat carrying weapons destined for the Gaza Strip, which was steaming southwards past the Israeli coast, a military spokeswoman said on Tuesday.

"The boat departed from a port in Turkey and was travelling to Egypt under a Liberian flag," the spokeswoman said without elaborating when the boat was seized.

The vessel was carrying "various weapons and the assessment is that they were to be transported to terror organizations in the Gaza Strip," she told AFP.
