Kuwait cafe shut down after showing porn movies

A cafe in Kuwait has been shut down after showing porn movies late at night.

The establishement in the busy Salmiya area of Kuwait city was under surveillance after being tipped off to the authorities of its illegal activity, Al Rai newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Despite the owner claiming he was unaware that such activity was illegal, the cafe was shutdown and he was subjected to investigation.

This was not the first instance which cafes were shutdown after being caught showing pornographic films.

Under Kuwaiti laws, pornography is banned, and last August, approximately 3,000 porn websites were blocked to Blackberry users by Research Motion.
