Ban Ki-Moon Re-election
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon attended a news conference on Monday, in which he announced his re-election plans.
The former South Korean foreign minister has already recieved a wide range of support from members of the Security Council, including the United States and China - making his re-election bid as head of the UN almost certain.
Mr. Ban's first term ends on December 31st and so far he remains unopposed in his bid to be re-elected as Secretary General.
The Secretary General maintained that, in his four-and-a-half years of service, both he and the Security Council members had found common ground on key issues concerning international peace and security.
