From Today’s Zaman: Weddings, ethics and moral dilemmas

Summer is always wedding season, but it seems that this July I have more than my usual share of invitations to marriages and engagements.
Perhaps it is because, with Ramadan taking up most of August, couples either need to marry before the month of fasting starts, or wait until September.

The wedding I attended last Saturday was as delightful as it was different for Turkey. I have known Gizem for many years and watched her grow from a pretty young girl into the beautiful bride that walked down the aisle on her proud father’s arm. She met the groom, Dominik, in Switzerland, although he had grown up in Zeytinburnu in İstanbul. So the ceremony was all in Turkish.
