Syrian Military Open Fire in Idlib

Amateur videos posted on a social media website shows heavy gunfire in the Syrian city of Idlib and a funeral attack by security forces on August 7.

Witnesses have said they that dead bodies can be seen on the streets as demonstrations continue calling for an end to the regime of President Bashar Al-Assad.

A second video shows mourners passing the Idlib Governorate building towards security line, before heavy gunfire breaks out forcing them to flee in the opposite direction.

Activist told reporters that eight people had been killed overnight in Idlib after protests at evening prayers.

The reported killings in Idlib come on the day that Syrian troops killed at least 38 people in a tank assault on the eastern city of Deir Al-Zor.

However, this cannot be verified by Al Arabiya.

The Syrian government has banned foreign media since the start of the uprising against the regime, making it difficult to verify statements from residents and authorities.
