Bounty on Qaddafi
Clashes between Libyan rebels and pro-Qaddafi forces continue to flare in the country’s capital, Tripoli. On Wednesday, bounty of 1.6 million US dollars was issued by a Libyan businessman for the capture of leader Muammar Qaddafi who is wanted dead or alive.
Since fighting broke out in Tripoli, rebels have been searching for the whereabouts of Qaddafi. Mustafa Abdel Jalil, chairman of the National Transitional Council, told reporters at press conference in Benghazi about efforts being made to capture Qaddafi, dead or alive.
"A businessman in Benghazi has set up a bounty of two million Libyan dinars for anyone who captures Gaddafi. The National Transitional Council will also offer anyone from his inner circle amnesty if he kills or captures Gaddafi," said Jalil.
According to Ahmed Omar Bani, the military spokesman of the rebels, negotiations are being held in Qaddafi’s hometown Sirte, south of Libya in a bid to find him.
"Now I think he is running between Sirte and Sabah. He is somewhere around Sirte or Sabah, I think. And we will capture him anyway. We will take him directly to the court of course," said Bani.
The NTC is also offering amnesty to anyone who captures or kills Qaddafi.
