New Clashes Breakout Across Yemen

In renewed violence across Yemen, security forces on Thursday dispersed demonstrations in the protest hub of Taiz, shooting at civilians with live rounds and tear gas.

Meanwhile, in Aden, two explosions hit intelligence headquarters and a police base on the same day. No one was hurt, according to an official.

However, one boy was shot dead when security forces retaliated by opening fire.

The explosions occurred days after the Yemeni army declared it had recaptured the capital of the neighboring province of Abyan, Zinjibar.

The town has been associated with al-Qaeda militants, who have been blamed by the officials for most of the attacks on security forces in Aden.

Explosions also shook north of the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, in seemingly fresh clashes between opposing tribe members and loyalist troops to President Ali Abdullah Saleh, according to residents.

Despite dodging an assassination attempt, the president, who has been in Saudi Arabia for treatment since June, remains defiant in relinquishing power amid months of protests.
