From Today’s Zaman: New film festival in İstanbul to weigh scales of justice

This week will see the anticipated debut of the International Crime and Punishment Film Festival, an event taking place courtesy of the İstanbul University faculty of law in collaboration with the Başakşehir Municipality.

Set to get under way on Friday, the event will see more than 100 films from 40 countries screened over a week-long period in a program that focuses on social change and the diversity of judicial processes in different countries as well as seeking to explore the relationship between justice and cinema and other art forms. Presented and examined in a series of academic panel discussions and workshops, the hope is that the festival will provide audiences with the opportunity to expand their horizons and consider and evaluate timely and topical issues from different perspectives.
