Libyan Cache Weapons in Sirte

On Monday, Libyan fighters loaded small arms and other military weapons near Sirte after they said they seized the cache from a warehouse in Wadi Garif on Sunday.

The National Transitional Council fighters, from the Marsa unit, say the warehouse had been guarded by Qaddafi loyalists, who had fled when the NTC forces arrived.

The cache was found in Wadi Garif, to the southwest of Sirte, the birthplace of ousted leader Muammar Qaddafi.

Libyan interim government forces pulled back from Sirte, and fled from Bani Walid on Sunday after yet more failed attempts to storm Qddafi's final bastions and take control of the entire country.

NTC forces Colonel Fawzi Kashbur said, "We are currently in an area west of (the town of) Herawa to bring the necessary support of cannons to our frontline forces in the area of Sultan and onwards to Sirte,"

NTC forces have been struggling to wrest Sirte from Qaddafi loyalists for several days and humanitarian groups have voiced alarm at the reported conditions within the coastal city, cut off from the outside.
