From Times of Oman: Oman to host GCC girls athletic meet

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman will host the inaugural GCC Girls Athletic Meet at the Royal Oman Police Stadium, Wattayah on February 23 and 24 it was announced at a press conference held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Bausher under the auspices of Hamed Al Jabri, chairman of Oman Athletic Association.

Thanking the other GCC countries for their overwhelming support Al Jabri said: “It gives me great pleasure to on behalf of the Ministry of Sports Affairs and the Oman Athletic Association to announce the hosting of the inaugural edition of the GCC Girls Athletic Meet.

“I even like to thank the brotherly countries of the other GCC states for their unflinching support and trust, not forgetting the sponsors who have come forward in order to hold this major event,” he added.

Speaking to the media Hamed Al Jabri said: This if the first time OAA is hosting an all-women event and are hoping it will be a success.”
