Syrians mourn the dead on eve of uprising anniversary

Amateur footage uploaded onto social media sites on March 14, shows funeral processions in cities across Syria.

The first funeral in the sequence is for Alaa Raeef Khalil, a Syrian who was allegedly shot dead as he was making his way across the border into Turkey, where scores are seeking refuge.

The second funeral was held in Homs, for Samir Maher Mufleh, who was allegedly killed by Shabbiha forces, hitmen loyal to President Bashar al-Assad.

The third funeral was held in Aleppo, for Abdulla Jalo.

The United Nations estimates the death toll at 8,000, while tens of thousands have been displaced, many seeking refuge abroad, such as neighbouring countries like Lebanon and Turkey.

Al Arabiya cannot independently verify the content of the footage.
