Sarkozy honours three soldiers killed by Toulouse gunman

The French president honours three soldiers killed by the Toulouse gunman suspected of then shooting dead seven people in a killing spree in the name of al Qaeda.

The three soldiers buried in the French town of Montauban on Wednesday were killed by a suspect now known as the 'Toulouse gunman'. They are amongst seven people shot down in an apparent attempt to avenge the deaths of Palestinian children and because of the French army's involvement in Afghanistan.

The other victims were a rabbi and three Jewish children who were buried in Jerusalem on Wednesday.

Presidential election candidates attended the funeral ahead of French President Nicolas Sarkozy who then addressed the assembled crowd and family members.

The Jewish victims from the Ozar Hatorah School were buried in Jerusalem on Wednesday.
