Located in the south region of Jazan in Saudi Arabia, Fifa mountains rise above dreamy scenery and exceptional geography.

People of Fifa are known for their daily struggle and the challenges they face as a result of the difficult nature of the land. The mountains are connected to the Jazan region while being 125 km far from the first provincial capital in the region.

Visitors of Fifa mountains are seized by its beauty, its exceptional heights, its marvelous greenery shrouded with fog, creating a breathtaking landscape, attractive for photographers who come to the region.

Fifa mountainous area has been given several nicknames such as “neighbor of the moon”, “heavens of the earth” or the “Magical Fifa”.

And besides its stunning landscape, the region is also cherished for its ancient fortresses and construction that were used in the past to protect the land from aggressors.

Despite the outstanding beauty, the rugged nature of its land and the narrow routes leading to it are but a continuous concern for the inhabitants of the region.

It is not without creativity that the population managed to overcome some of the obstacles due to the narrow routes, as they have constructed hand-made carriages, hung high on cables, where the residents transport their merchandise and patients in spite of all the dangers.

Hussein al-Faifi, a resident of Fifa Mountains, told Al Arabiya that the difficult roads forced the population to find new ways of transportation to adapt to the harsh condition, so they created these unique vehicles.

Hadi Mohammed al-Faifi, who also lives in the region, however complained about the absence of the tourism authorities and requested for more efforts to be made in the development of the area.

He proposed building “cable cars” that could transport visitors to, and from, Fifa Mountains to other touristic sites, like the nearby region of Aseer.
