He is running for peace, but is constantly faced by obstacles blocking his path to his goal: peace.
Meet Salim, the hero of a new video game created by five Lebanese guys.
The creators of “Running for Peace” wanted a game that addressed the issue of political turbulence in the Middle East and one hero’s attempt to bring peace to the troubled region.
The idea for the game was to show a character going through an obstacle course in his quest to bring peace to the Middle East. We used different Arab things like the Argeela (hookah) and even hummus to reflect the region. Through his journey, Salim can change his appearance from a man dressed in traditional Gulf attire to a punk," said Lebnan Nader, General Manager of Game.
This is where the idea of “Run for Peace “ was created , and where Salim was born.
“I made different designs until we agreed that he should look Arab and we then took it from there.
“We chose the name Salim because it was the closest to the word peace in Arabic (salam)," said Arz Nader- Creator of Salim’s character.
All the sound effects were recorded by the video game’s young designers.
"All the sound effects, like the ones of bubbles, fire, explosions, were generated and recorded in our office," said Joe Hannoush, sound and visual effects manager.
During the game, Salim gets to know all the Arab monuments and at the end he has to light up the entire peace sign.
The game will be available in Apple Store, iPad and iPhone, both in English and Arabic. The Android version will follow later.
