Amateur footage uploaded recently onto social media site, YouTube, shows various scenes of cluttered garbage all over the Syrian town of Homs. Residents have complained of the stench and the health hazard it poses as summer nears, bring high temperatures and transforming the streets into a breeding ground of diseases. This in turn has led them to join together in cleaning up the mess as the country continues to endure violence inflicted by the Assad regime. The last scenes shows a makeshift kitchen set up to feed hungry workers after long hours sweeping the sidewalks and repairing electrical outlets.
