Egyptian pop singer Tamer Hosny is seeking international stardom by teaming up with prominent American musicians in a bid to produce and release an album by the end of this year.
Hosny began his journey to worldwide fame by releasing the first song of his new album in collaboration with renowned American rapper Snoop Dogg. The song“Si L Sayed” is to be released by end of June.
Snoop Dogg is a Grammy Award-nominated American rapper, record producer, and actor. He is known to have popularized the catch phrase suffix “-izzle”.
Both Hosny and Snopp Dogg have composed their own parts of the song.
On January 25, 2011, as popular protests spread across Egypt and ultimately forced former president Hosni Mubarak to cede power, Hosny canceled his tour abroad and flew back home.
On February 9, 2011, Hosny appeared on stage at Tahrir Square in Cairo, the ‘headquarter’ of the Egyptian protesters, but his presence caused some confusion and anger, as some demonstrators believed he was urging them to leave the streets.
But Hosny was later quoted as saying that he wanted to tell the protesters he had made a mistake, and that he is fully supportive of the revolution.
Hosny has organized charity activities supporting the families of those killed during the events and launched a blood donation campaign in Egypt with his fans.
He has also produced two songs to mark the revolution days.
