An American Muslim preacher, Yousuf Estes, has won the Islamic Personality of the Year award by Dubai International Holy Quran Award the Gulf News reported on Tuesday.
Estes was chosen for his services for Islam and shedding light on its role in the life of Muslims in particular and all people in general, said member of the organizing committee Ebrahim Bu Melha.
Estes has published a CD called “Daddy tell me about God” where he plays the father answering a daughter’s queries about God.
Estes travels the world to preach the message of Islam and spends time in the United States doing the same, especially in prisons where he raises awareness on the religion. The paper reported that non-Muslim prisoners converted after listening to him.
Estes was born in Texas in 1944. He converted to Islam in 1991 and later, his father and wife also converted reported the newspaper.
