Hospital beds which featured during the Olympics 2012 opening ceremony in London will be donated to hospitals in Tunisia, the Guardian reported on Monday.
The 320 beds, which were included in a performance celebrating the UK’s National Health Service and the Great Ormond Street Hospital, quite literally lit up the stage during the event with an LED display.
“A team of 15 volunteers will now spend three days removing LED bedding, batteries and wiring from all 320 showpieces – turning them into functioning hospital beds,” the Guardian reported, adding that they will be shipped to the Hospital Habis Burguiba De Medenine and the Hospital de Taouine in Tunisia, “where they will play a valuable role in treating patients.”
The beds will be donated by events company Tait Technologies, who supplied the Olympics opening ceremony with the props as part of the $42 million spectacular.
