Arab artists: Kaddoura masters aquarelle

Inspired by the art of tools and colors of a Hungarian artist, Mohammad Kaddoura developed a passion for colors, water and brushes at an early age. Growing up in a town bestowed with captivating natural beauty, Kaddoura started on a lifetime journey in the realm of art.

Born in Beirut in 1941, Kaddoura grew up in Ein al-Mraiseh. Of his childhood Kaddoura says:

“When I was in the elementary school, they regarded me as the genius artist…”

Kaddoura completed the assignments of his classmates with little effort, still managing to display his artistic talents.

A holder of a diploma from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Rome, Italy, Kaddoura’s paintings portray reality in a peaceful and reassuring way. Explaining the difficulty of mastering the aquarelle technique that he favours, Kaddoura laments that:

“…people think it is a cakewalk or a no-brainer, which is not true.”

Kaddoura also explains that:

“Aquarelle style in Fine Arts has the same prestigious standing of poetry in literature…”
