Bahraini professional artist Abbas al-Musawi is a recipient of many prizes, including Bahrain’s “Delmon” award in 1978.
Born in Bahrain in 1952, Musawi is deeply influenced by his country which is reflected in his art.
“I am in love with nature and I translate my love from the settings of Bahrain. It is a phenomenal legacy conveyed by its seas, towns and old markets,” he said.
Musawi graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts from a Cairo university with a Bachelor’s degree in interior design. However, he can boast over four decades of experience in painting, as he is known for his rapid speed in transposing his thoughts onto canvas.
“I can create ten paintings at the same time. However, if you combine them all in a single framework, you will end up with a solo piece of art,” he said.
Aside being a painter and an interior designer, Musawi is also a professional photographer. For that, the artist has been considered as an authority in multiple disciplines of art, as well as having travelled to and exhibited in numerous countries around the world.
“I find myself having a chat with my painting which guides me into the creation of a unique piece of art,” he said.
Musawi currently has a permanent exhibition at the Sheraton Hotel in Bahrain.
