Arab artists: Ayman Dedaban stands for equality and justice

Ayman Yossri Dedaban was born in 1966 and has participated in many international exhibitions, showcasing his talent in multimedia materials around the globe.

Born in Palestine, the artist is a true product of globalization- holding Jordanian nationality and living in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Dedaban was born in Ramallah where he lived for a year, the experience was more than enough to leave a deep imprint of Palestinian identity upon him.

Although this identity was the source of sufferings and misfortune, it also blessed him with a rich imagination.

The artist depicts political suffering through his art, making him a creative activist.

“In order to be an effective figure in life, and to go global, it is compulsory to understand myself and my identity. As a Palestinian artist, I can offer resistance not by holding arms or engaging in politics, but through art.”

Dedaban follows a sophisticated artistic approach. However, the simplicity of his paintings makes them accessible to all viewers.
The liveliness of his concepts and the daring treatment of colors speak for themselves.

“I am confident that once an artist resorts to symbols that are well understood and familiar to the common folk, he can then reach out to the masses,” he explained.

His work usually stems from a fleeting idea in the subconscious mind, an idea which haunts him until he translates that dynamic mental image into the physical reality of art.

“I always use my visual art to mirror language in form and content,” described the artist.
