Parma striker Ishak Belfodilto is set to play for the Algerian national team, an agreement that Algeria’s coach Vahid Halilhodzic is trying to multiply in his attempt to convince more French-born players to play for the North African country.

Reims fullback Aissa Mandi is Halilodzic’s first target. The 21-year-old player has appeared in seven out of nine league games and has proven his performances. Yacine Brahimi of Spanish side, Granada, and Faouzi Ghoulam of Saint-Etienne are also on Halilhodzic’s list.

Algeria is hoping to strengthen its squad ahead of the African Cup of Nations in 2013, and the 2014 World Cup African qualifiers.

The North African country, who participated in the 2010 World Cup, is only one point behind Benin in Group H of the qualifiers.
