UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan has ordered a medical aircraft to bring an injured Emirati back home.
The Emirati national, whose name was not disclosed, sustained a head injury after a road accident in Oman on Friday, the country’s Interior Ministry said.
To his aid, Sheikh Nahyan sent a Ministry of Interior officer and a health authority medical team from Abu Dhabi to accompany the man back to the Emirates to receive treatment.
The man, 48, however received initial treatment in Salalah, Oman.
Unlike many other Arab states, the UAE attempts to cosset and relief its citizens with added advantages. On Thursday, Sheikh Nahyan ordered that Emiratis who have been detained and convicted over their issuance of defaulted checks to be released.
However, the EU Parliament on Friday issued a resolution criticizing the human rights situation in the Emirates, highlighting the repression of political prisoners and the exploitation of migrant workers.
The country’s Foreign Minister Anwar Gargash dismissed the resolution as “biased and prejudiced (and) throws accusations haphazardly without substantiating the facts.”
