As part of the 41st UAE National Day celebrations, across the emirate of Dubai, a variety of events have been organized.
The day marks the UAE’s formal independence from the United Kingdom and the eventual unification of the seven emirates on Dec. 2, 1971.
“The spirit of the country was celebrated in vivid colors and light displays across the UAE to mark its 41st National Day,” Gulf News reported.
“The streets were aflutter with flags and lights in national colors were hanging from buildings, shopping malls were decorated as were vehicles on the roads, other festivities included concerts and fireworks,” Gulf News added.
A variety of programs were set up by Dubai authorities, involving school students.
Dubai’s Children's City held and handicraft workshops on Sunday art, and boasted fun activities with traditional food, face painting, a photo exhibition, in addition to a play on patriotism.
A digital photo exhibition “Many Faces, One Nation” also took place in some of the largest shopping malls in Dubai.
As for the world’s tallest tower, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, has been illuminated in the colors of the national flag to mark the celebrations. The tower will stay illuminated until Dec. 7.
