The Syrian capital Damascus was the scene of heavy snowfall Wednesday, reducing visibility for drivers, but spreading cheer despite the country’s conflict.
Snowfall started early in the morning, and was sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms.
More patchy, light snow is forecast for Wednesday evening.
Cities across the country are experiencing heavy rainfall.
The weather is part of a brutal winter that is wreaking havoc across the Middle East.
The rain has magnified the misery for Syrians living through a civil war that, according to the United Nations, has killed more than 60,000 people.
