Forget sunshine and sandcastles, this summer American superstar Madonna is taking her newly adopted daughter Mercy on holiday to Jerusalem so she can see one of Judaism's holiest sites, the Wailing Wall.

The mother of four is a devout follower of the mystical Jewish faith Kabbalah and wants to take her two adopted children from Malawi to the site to introduce them to the faith.

The Wailing Wall is a very sacred place for anyone with links to the Jewish faith and she wants the children to see it

The 50-year-old mother is planning the trip for September to coincide with her final date of her "Sticky and Sweet" tour in the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv.

"Madonna wants to give Mercy enough time to settle into her new home. By September she feels she will be ready to take the trip without the danger of upheaval,"according to British tabloid the Sun.

"The Wailing Wall is a very sacred place for anyone with links to the Jewish faith and she wants the children to see it," the paper quoted an unnamed source as saying.

Earlier this month, Malawi's highest court overturned a lower court's ruling that prevented Madonna from adopting four-year-old Mercy and on Saturday the little girl moved in with her new family in London.
