France is to replace its ambassador to Tunis with its current envoy to Baghdad, an official said Wednesday, amid criticism of Paris's response to its former colony's political revolution.

Iraq envoy Boris Boillon will replace Pierre Menat in Tunis following a government decision taken Wednesday, government spokesman Francois Baroin told journalists.

Boillon, 41, in Baghdad since 2009, "has all the natural sensitivity for the new era that is now beginning in Franco-Tunisian relations," Baroin said.
