Dubai welcomes world’s most expensive purse

Studded with 4,517 diamonds, Dubai will welcome the world’s most expensive purse priced at $3.8 million on Thursday in its five-star hotel, the Dubai Mall.

The 1001 Nights Diamond Purse which takes the shape of a heart is encrusted with 105 yellow, 56 pink and 4.356 colorless diamonds – all weighing a whopping 381.92 carats, the e-daily Emirates Business 24/7 reported on Thursday.

The purse which made its way in the Guinness Book of World Records for its hefty price tag was handcrafted from 18-carat gold. It took 10 artisans, working over a period of four months, mounting to an incredible 1,100 hours to create the purse.

The purse’s designer Pascal Mouawad, co-guardian of the House of Mouawad has unveiled the purse recently at the Doha Jewelry and Watches Exhbition, where Mouawad was quoted by Reuters as saying: “The Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse is designed to mesmerize with its lavish attention to detail and elaborate workmanship incorporating thousands of diamonds.”

House of Mouawad was behind the creation of several bras made out of diamonds, including the Very Sexy Fantasy Bra for Victoria’s Secret.

Dubai known for its ‘bling’ extravagance has unveiled its first gold to go ATM machine recently following Abu Dhabi in 2010.

The ATM machine gives gold nuggets to shoppers if they to put the corresponding value of money.

Glamour reached its zenith in Dubai when diamond-encrusted credit cards were offered by the Royale Mastercard. The diamond-ornamented credit cards were given only by invitations to self-employed customers with a monthly salary of at least $28,000 and assets with at least one million dollars.

Bling H20 – The Dubai Series A limited edition bottle of mountain spring water embellished with 10,000 hand-applied Swarovski crystals was on sale in 2010 for around $4,000 only.
