From The Egyptian Gazette: Post-revolutionary trail-blazing Egypt farmers

On the banks of the River Nile a great civilisation emerged some seven thousand years ago when Egyptian farmers settled in the long narrow valley of the Nile.

It was farming that gave impetus to other fields of human activities and, at a later stage, to the establishment of cities.
