UAE president invites Egyptian counterpart for state visit

The president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, has invited his Egyptian counterpart Mohammed Mursi for a state visit, the state press agency reported on Thursday.

The invitation was passed onto the Egyptian president by UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in a meeting between the two in Cairo.

“The meeting discussed ways of boosting the distinguished bilateral ties in various spheres with emphasis on prospects of establishing joint ventures and increasing UAE investment in Egypt,” the statement from the Emirates News Agency read.

Latest developments in the Arab region were also touched on during the talks, the statement added, which were attended by Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamil Amro and UAE Ambassador to Egypt Mohammed bin Nakhira al-Dhaheri.
